This rod is a funky avocado green that can turn into a rich - dark - transparent purple in areas where the fume has been burned off by heating it to white hot. Once the piece is done - let it cool - until the orange glow is gone - then strike it to purple - by reintroducing it to the outermost part of the flame. Areas - where the fume remains - will appear as a rather cloudy blue.
